Gentle & Compassionate Dental Care for Children

As a parent, you want to care for your child in the best way possible. So much of that responsibility is caring for his or her health. One aspect of that is dental care, starting as early as 6 months of age. Once infants are teething, they should be seen by a dental office to ensure oral normality. As they grow older, they need supervision by their parents in taking care of their teeth and gums.

At Mountain View Dentistry, we’re here to support you in your desire to maintain your child’s dental health. With compassion and individual care, we’re ready to help guide your child’s dental hygiene and well-being.

Contact our office to answer any questions you may have about your child’s oral health and to schedule an appointment with our pediatric dentist.

How Do I Care For My Child’s Teeth?

Below, we have a list of ways to take care of your child's teeth and ensure they have optimal oral health.

For optimal oral health, follow these guidelines:

  • If your child is below the age of 2, gently brush their teeth with water, rather than toothpaste they can swallow.
  • Watch thumb-sucking––it can form unhealthy biting relationships and lead to malformed teeth in the future.
  • If your baby is teething, gently rub their gums with the back of a spoon, gauze, or even your finger.
  • For a toothache, rinse out your child’s mouth with warm water and salt. If the pain persists, see a pediatric dentist.
  • Supervise your child while playing and if involved in sports, give your child a mouthguard.
  • If your child’s tooth is knocked out, try to place the tooth back. Otherwise, keep it in a solution of saliva or milk until seeing a dental professional.

Pediatric Dentistry for Your Family

Your child’s early years are formative for their health as well as their mind and emotions. Starting strong dental health patterns is crucial from a young age. Especially as your child becomes more active, you need to know how to treat various dental scenarios. It can be easy to be overwhelmed with the wealth of information available, especially found on the Internet. The best way to know how to care for your child’s teeth is to consult with a professional. With Mountain View Dentistry, our policy is to care for each of our patients and ensure the best treatments possible.
